Pickup Camper Shells
Pickup camper shells are a great purchase for a truck owner wanting more space.
They are made for pickup trucks and are attached to the bed of the truck to create more storage space for traveling, mostly used when traveling for camping purposes. Pickup camper shells are great for protecting items in the truck bed from weather elements, such as wind, snow, sleet, rain, or hail damage. They can also help prevent accidents since they will keep items in the truck secure and not allow anything to fly out of the back of the truck.
While most pickup truck camper shells are hard cover and made from either fiberglass or aluminum, you can also find newer versions these days that are soft-shell. These soft-shells make for an easier assembly, are usually cheaper, more lightweight, are easily retractable and can be used when towing a fifth wheel trailer. When determining whether or not you want to purchase a soft cover versus a hard cover camper shell, you should look at a few different factors.
Where do you do the majority of your traveling? Hard top pickup camper shells are probably a better bet when traveling farther distances at higher speeds. How often do you want to be able to remove your camper shell? Removing a hard top camper shell usually requires two people and takes a lot more time and effort to remove than a soft cover camper shell. How do you want it to look? Hard top camper shells can usually be ordered to match the exact paint color of your pickup truck and look exactly like an extension on the cab in fiberglass. Soft top pickup camper shells usually only come in a few basic colors unless you special order them, and obviously they will be a noticeably different material than your pickup truck.
Using either a soft or hard top camper shell will allow you more versatility when it comes to camping. You have more storage room, not to mention easier accessibility. Most pickup camper shells, both hard and soft top, can be purchased with many different convenience options. Some of these include: interior dome lights, weather tight sealing, sliding front windows, tinted windows, safety screens on any and all of the side windows, pop-out windows, carpet on the interior of the truck bed, windshield wipers, roof racks for additional storage and many more convenient options. If you have a pickup truck, and are an avid camper or traveler, purchasing a pickup camper shell is a good investment. Not only will you have extra storage space that will keep your belongings safe and dry, but life will just be plain simpler and easier.
